Week 22 Instant Communication

Instant messaging could be very useful within a library network. It would be great if we could use im to obtain information from the information desk for clients, especially if you are in a smaller branch library or a remote isolated client on a farm. This would give them better access.
I am familiar with skype, great for talking to relatives overseas or interstate.

IM messaging through yahoo and google is one that I am going to start using.

Week 21 More with Google docs

I can see the potential using google docs. The parts that I found to be helpful was after you have created your document other people can have access to it and this saves you e-mailing and having so many copies floating around everywhere.
I also liked the keyboard short cuts very useful as it can save time, and that is something that many of us lack. I am looking fordward to using google docs more.

Week 20 Event Management

Setting up a meeting using doodle was great, it was easy to do and something that I feel can be used all the time.
I set up a google calendar and I am now going to try and using this on a daily basic. This was a great week of learning 2.1 for me as it is something that I found very useful and can use easily.

Week 19 Productivity

RSS feeds.

I am really enjoying doing more of the RSS feeds, have found some great info on travel and cooking however I don't seem to get too much time to play with these feeds. I try and check and check them at least once per week, but feel that I need to do it more often.
I am finding that I am getting more use to the RSS feeds and am enjoying my little plays with them.

Week 18 slideshows, screencasting and digital story telling

Web 2.1 is getting to be a great avenue for me as a new learning curve of what 2.1, really is about.
I think that I am finally starting to understand what can be done. One of thing things I do like was slidesharing, it is great way for staff to share presentations within the working environment. I can see the many uses that it will have in the library environment, as many people are familiar with powerpoint presentations, it just means that the sharing of presentations and graphs is made easier by slidesharing.
